The Online Panel is a special group of participants comprised of adults from all over the United States and the world. Panelists participate in online survey studies run by Columbia University researchers in exchange for payment or entrance into a lottery for a larger cash prize.
To be eligible to join the Behavioral Research Lab online panel, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be fluent in the English language
Benefits :
On average, studies pay approximately $16/hour! Most studies last 15-45 minutes, so a typical payment can be between $5 – $12. In most cases, researchers offer other or additional forms of compensation, such as entry in a lottery for a gift card of greater value. Payments are made in cash by PayPal.

Types of Studies
The vast majority of studies the Behavioral Research Lab conducts are surveys, either on paper or computer, and simple behavioral tasks, such a mock negotiations.
Rights as a Participant
As a participant you have the rights to be treated ethically and respectfully, to be informed of the nature of the experiment, and to withdraw your participation at any time.
All Behavioral Research Lab studies are approved by Columbia’s Institutional Review Board, and researchers are required to obtain informed consent before every study and provide more information after the studies’ conclusions.

How to join :
If you’re interested in joining the Columbia Business School Behavioral Research Lab, welcome you to register now. Registering for the online panel means that you will receive invitations to participate in surveys at your choosing.
You must register your account with a .edu email address or it will not be approved. If you are a student from another university or an alum with a working .edu e-mail address, you are invited to participate in Behavioral Research Lab studies.
You can participate in as many (or as few) surveys as you like, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
